Our sources who informed us about the TVS cruiser motorcycles under development also told us that the two-wheeler maker is planning to introduce a new budget commuter. This new motorcycle will be aimed to compete against the likes of Hero MotoCorp Splendor and CD Deluxe and will be called as the ‘Prestige’. Given that the motorcycle will be pit against the likes of Hero MotoCorp Splendor and CD Deluxe, we expect the new Prestige to arrive with a 100cc engine.
TVS Motor’s current commuter range comprises of three motorcycles, the Sport (100cc), Star City + (110cc) and Victor (110cc).
If at all the new TVS Prestige is launched with a 100cc engine, it will most likely share it with the TVS Sport. The TVS Sport draws power from a 99.7 cc 4-stroke DURALIFE engine that’s tuned to deliver 7.5 PS of power @ 7500 rpm and is claimed to deliver fuel economy of 95 km/l. Given that the motorcycle will be pitched as a budget commuter, we expect to see drum brakes on both ends. Suspension duties would be provided by a telescopic fork upfront and two-sided springs at the rear.
The new motorcycle will most likely arrive between the INR 45,000-50,000 (ex-showroom) price tag.
