Ampere Vehicles Appoints Ex-President Of Hyundai India As Chairman of Board

The electric mobility arm of Greaves Cotton Limited, Ampere Vehicles has announced the induction of industry veteran BVR Subbu to its Board as the Chairman. In his role as Chair of the Board, Mr Subbu, an automobile industry veteran and ex-President of Hyundai India, will steer the Board to stay ahead of the complex challenges presented by a competitive Indian e-mobility transformation and support Ampere’s strategic growth ambitions. Ampere was acquired by Greaves Cotton in August 2018 and has been focused on building sustainable, affordable and clean mobility solution for the last mile connectivity especially for people in tier-II and tier-III cities with a less-developed public transport system. Greaves Cotton recently increased its stake in Ampere from 67% to 81%.

Ampere Zeal

Ampere Vehicles has a near-20% market share in the Indian electric two-wheeler industry along with a range of high-to-low-speed, affordable and energy-efficient electric scooters that are currently popular with commuters making a switch from conventional to electric two-wheelers. One of the products in their current portfolio includes the Zeal e-scooter which is available at Rs. 67,000 approx (ex-showroom). The Zeal scooter can hit a top speed of about 55kmph and has a total range of 75km on a single charge. The charging time for the scooter is about 5.5 hours. Under the FAME II benefit, the Zeal scooter will attract around Rs 18,000 in subsidy for a regular customer. It gets an LED headlight, a dual-speed mode (economy and power), and accelerates from 0-50kmph in 14 secs. The scooter is also equipped with an anti-theft alarm and is available in five high-gloss metallic shades. Ampere’s electric vehicles also come with a 1-3 year warranty and the products are supported by a strong network of more than 300 Greaves Retail stores and over 5000 aftermarket outlets across India
