Believe when we say we saw it coming! Thanks to the waiting period of the much-loved Ford EcoSport touching an all time high of 12 months, several people who have been wishing to bring the new baby crossover home have been put-off and have decided to look at other options in the market.

“The waiting period for all the variants of EcoSport has gone upto 12 months, and many of the people who had booked the car have either cancelled their bookings or planning to do the same,” a report from Business Standard report noted.

It may be noted that Ford India recognizes that the delay in the deliveries is causing unrest among potential buyers and hence, recently suspended the bookings of the EcoSport to prevent orders from further piling up.

The EcoSport has got a terrific response from car buying lot right from the word go, with over 30,000 bookings being received within the first 17 days of its launch in India.

The Ford EcoSport is on sale in India in as many as three engine variants:

  • The base engine variant sports the same 1.5 litre normally aspirated petrol engine that powers the Fiesta.
  • The second petrol engine variant is powered by the much hyped Ford EcoBoost 1.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine.
  • The third engine variant, and the one that is obviously the most popular, is powered by the Fiesta’s 1.5 litre turbocharged diesel engine.
