  • Tata Jump concept to spawn an Ecosport rival

If a report by the folks at Autocar India is to be believed, popular Indian UV and passenger car maker Tata Motors plans to come up with a new compact SUV concept that will be called the ‘Jump’ at the fast approaching Auto Expo 2014.

The upcoming Tata Jump compact SUV will be underpinned by the same platform that also underpins the Vista and the upcoming Tata Bolt. As must be quite obvious to you, the Tata Jump would measure less than 4 metres in length and the Ecosport-rival is likely to go on sale by next year.

It may be noted that the burgeoning demand for Compact SUVs in India has made Tata Motors to take a ‘jump’ into this fast expanding segment with a new compact SUV and the upcoming model is highly likely to have traditional Tata strengths such as roomy interiors, robust styling, efficient diesel engines and a highly competitive price tag. It is being said that the Tata Jump concept would showcase Tata Motors new design language for its future models in the passenger car market.

Powering the Tata Jump would be a new-age 100bhp, 1.2 turbo-petrol motor from the new Tata Revotron engine family. Also, the car is likely to get an all-new diesel engine that the manufacturer is currently working on.

The upcoming Tata Jump concept would also be showcased at this year’s Geneva Motor Show in March 2014.
