Those of you who have been regular to Motoroids would know that we recently tested the upcoming 2013 Skoda Octavia on varied road conditions and came back pretty impressed with most of the things that the soon-to-be-launched car has to offer. The new Skoda Octavia will be launched in India in early October and is likely to have an ex showroom price of INR 17.6 lakhs for the top end diesel variant.

Skoda refrained from disclosing variants and tech specs back when it unveiled the new car in India. However, the same were revealed during the media drive earlier this month and the same can be accessed through the Skoda Octavia brochure scans that have been attached to the next page.

As we have been telling you, the new Octy will be launched in India with a total of thee engine options. The engines on offer would consist of two petrol motors and one oil burner. The car will be sold in three trim levels- Active (base), Ambition (mid) and Elegance (top).

Following are the three engines that will be offered with the India spec Octavia:

  • Internationally acclaimed 1.4 litre TSI Petrol engine
  • The 1.8 TSi Petrol engine from the Laura
  • The 2.0 TDi Diesel engine, again from the Laura

The 1.4TSi Petrol engine has a max power of 140PS and comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. This engine has a peak torque of 250Nm, while the fuel economy is being claimed to be 16.8kmpl. The Octy 1.4 will be available only in Active and Ambition trim levels.

It may be noted that the 1.8TSi motor, which has been carried over from Laura vRS, now makes 180PS (versus 160PS for the Laura) and also has a peak torque of 250Nm. The engine also gets a new 7-speed DSG box with Tiptronic function. The claimed fuel efficiency for this motor is rated at 14.7kmpl. This 1.8 TSi will be sold only in the Elegance trim.

The 2.0 Litre diesel motor will have 143PS of max power for the Octy, a full 3PS more than what it delivered for the Laura. Torque, however, remains the same at 320Nm. The transmission options would include both a 6-speed manual and a DSG box. Claimed fuel efficiency for manual-gearbox variant is 20.6kmpl and is 19.3kmpl for the DSG equipped variant. The manual transmission equipped Octy diesel will be available only in Active and Ambition trim and the DSQ equipped car will be available in Ambition and Elegance trim level. It is being speculated that the top end DSG equipped variant would have an ex showroom price of INR 17.6 lakhs.
