Yamaha R vs RC vs Ninja Shootout

BS-IV Compliant 2017 Yamaha R3 Launch Details Revealed

Just two days ago, we reported that Yamaha has removed the YZF-R3 from its Indian website. The model was discontinued in India as the motorcycle did not comply with the current BS-IV emission norms that came into effect from April 1, 2017.

Although Yamaha India did not share any official update regarding the discontinuation of the model, a new BS-IV compliant version of the model would arrive soon is something we all knew. What we didn’t know though was when Yamaha plans to bring this new R3 to India.

Now, if reports are to be believed, Yamaha has confirmed that they would bring the new BS-IV compliant YZF-R3 by June 2017. The motorcycle is expected to get a few more updates except for the BS-IV compliant engine. These updates are likely to include the Auto Headlamp On (AHO) feature, new paintjob(s) and a new set of decals.

Engine specifics are most likely to remain unchanged and hence it can be safe to assume that the BS-IV compliant Yamaha YZF-R3 will continue to be powered by the same 321 cc motor. This liquid cooled, twin cylinder engine produces 41 bhp and 30 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheel via six speed gearbox. Stay tuned for updates.
