Boom Corbett Electric Scooter Launched At ₹87000

In just a year, many indigenous products have made it to the Indian market. Many people look for the ‘Made in India’ badge before buying commodities. Today we bring to you a similar home-grown electric scooter by Boom Motors. This Tamil Nadu-based company has revealed its ‘Corbett 14’ series of indigenously built electric scooters and aims to start its delivery by January 2022. Its booking went live on the 12th of November with an initial booking amount of ₹499. Boom has some high hopes for this scooter and claims to have made the most durable and rugged scooter available on the Indian market. The Corbett 14 (Base Model) is priced at ₹89,999, while the 14 EX model is priced at ₹1,19,999 only.

Design

The brand has played a very bold move by giving this scooter an Exo-skeletal look; meaning that the chassis is not covered by panels and is openly visible. All the other elements of the EV have been integrated inside the chassis, while the high tensile steel contours the whole scooter. Overall it has a moped-like look and seating position, with its flat seat and footpegs on either side of the rather small floorboard. Upfront, we get a round LED headlight with an ‘O-shaped’ LED DRL. The handlebar seems small and lowered for comfort. At the back, the cylindrical taillight neatly merges into the frame of the scooter. The color scheme on this scooter is pretty distinct as well with only the skeleton getting the actual paint, and the rest of the elements being covered in black and grey.

Performance

The brand claims to provide the highest level of durability, and thus provides a 7-year warranty for the chassis and a 5-year warranty for the battery. The scooter gets 4-way adjustable dual spring suspensions at both ends. Braking duties are taken care of by disc brakes both at the front and rear. The scooter is offered in two variants: The base model with a 3kWh motor is capable of reaching a top speed of 65 km/h and offers a range of 100km.

The top-spec EX-model with a 4kWh motor is capable of reaching a top speed of 75 km/h and offers a range of 200km because of its dual battery pack. The battery in both models is removable and can be charged separately. Coming to features, the scooter offers mobile connectivity through an app, and helps you take care of it while also being able to enter various parental modes. Boom has already set up 24,000 service touchpoints across India and is continuously expanding its reach.
