Here is a piece of news that may fade away your Monday Blues. If the latest reports from AutoCar are to be believed, BMW Motorrad, the two-wheeler arm of the Bavarian manufacturer, may soon commence the local assembly of some of its motorcycle at the Chennai plant. The report also suggests that the first two motorcycles that are likely to be assembled in India are the F700 and F800 adventure bikes.

The F700 GS is powered by a 798cc water-cooled 4-stroke in-line two-cylinder engine that delivers a rated output of 75 bhp at 7300 RPM and 77Nm of torque at 5300 RPM. The claimed top speed of the motorcycle stands at 192 kph. The F800 GS, on the other hand, is also powered by a 798cc water-cooled 4-stroke in-line two-cylinder motor but with higher output figures of 85 hp at 7500 RPM and 83 Nm of torque at 5750 RPM. The claimed top speed for the F800 GS stands over 200 kph.

Global two-wheeler manufacturers like Triumph Motorcycles and Harley Davidson have begun local assembly which helps them benefit from lower tax duties. With local assembly, BMW can also price its products competitively, hence attracting a larger audience in the country. There is no official word from BMW about the development but with the Bavarian manufacturer joining hands with India’s TVS, we hope to see some really attractive products heading our way.

Here are more images of these expected models to hit the assembly line in India. Do share your thoughts and opinions with us through the comments section below.
