fisita world automotive congress

The FISITA 2014 World Automotive Congress will bring the international automotive engineering community together to address the theme: Intelligent transport to solve our future mobility, safety and environmental challenges and to address the most important issues and challenges being faced by the automotive industry.

An Executive Track session focussing on the Congress topic, Advanced Safety Technologies, will be led by global safety experts Dr. Michiel van Ratingen, Secretary-General at Euro NCAP and Prof. Klaus Kompass, Head of Vehicle Safety at BMW.

Dr. van Ratingen said, “Following decades of innovation in automotive safety including vehicle structures, advanced materials, crumple zones, occupant restraints and recent developments in crash avoidance technologies, the horizon is widening for engineers with an eye to the future. From biomechanics to sensors, electronics and software, the Advanced Safety Technology sessions at FISITA 2014 will reveal the latest updates that are relevant for engineers around the world.”

The session will take place on Thursday 5 June 2014, the last day of the Congress and will include a  keynote will be provided by Dr. Adrian K. Lund, President, Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the Highway Loss Data Institute (HLDI), USA.

The FISITA 2014 Advanced Safety Technologies programme is made up of 59 high-quality presentations across the three days of the Congress covering:

  •     Pre-crash, in-crash and post-crash accidentology and aspects in the light of safety
  •     Crashworthiness and occupant protection
  •     Functional safety, engineering methodology and software architecture
  •     Protection of vulnerable road users

A special session will also take place on 5 June, organised by the European project PROS: Towards a Global Strategic Research Agenda for Road Safety. The session will present the priorities identified in PROS, discuss future opportunities of global research cooperation in this field and explore the potential of a global road safety research agenda.
