In a growing and non-ending world of limited editions, German luxury car maker BMW has unveiled the BMW 5 Series Exclusive Sport Edition of the sedan and touring version for Japanese customers. Before you start thinking what exactly makes the limited edition stand apart from the regular 5 series, let us tell you that they’re not much. M-sport styled new bespoke bumper, side skirts and new set of 5 spoke 19 inch wheels. Not a big deal really in case you wish your 5 to resemble the new sport edition.
Step inside and the changes seem more prominent. A cinnamon brown leather interior complemented by a black piano trim greets you with a new three spoke steering wheel. An enhanced audio system, heads up display and of course the “Exclusive Sports” badge to remind you of the limited edition every time you step inside the Bimmer. Now getting this done on your 5 series would be a tad expensive.
Under the hood, the BMW 5 Series Exclusive Sport Edition gets two different powertrain options. A 2.0 litre 4 pod turbo petrol engine cranking 184 bhp for the 523i and a diesel in similar capacity producing exactly the same horsepower for the 523d but a higher torque figure of 280 lb/ft as compared to 199 lb/ft on the petrol variant.
The BMW 5 Series Exclusive Sport Edition would be produced only in limited number of 300 units each and prices are as follows:
523i Exclusive Sport- US$ 72,421
523i Touring Exclusive Sport- US$ 75,430
523d Blue Performance Exclusive Sport- US$ 74,740
523d Blue Performance Touring Exclusive Sport- US$ 77,750
