Honda showcases the Adventure version of the Honda CB400X

It’s been a short time since Honda had showcased the 400 series of motorcycles at the 29th Osaka Motorcycle Show which essentially were toned-down versions of the 500 series of motorcycles launched last year.

Since then, there has been no news on the specifications of the new 400s which are slated for the Asian markets. But what we see here is Honda revealing a customised adventure variant of the Honda CB400X similar to the Adventure Touring (AT) version of the 500 that was showcased at EICMA 2013 which we had posted here.

With major of the population with a penchant for faired bikes, for a few touring freaks in the country- the tasteful visuals of an upswept touring screen, pannier sets, auxiliary lights set on crash guards is a sight to behold. We have already witnessed riders taking ergo-unfriendly bikes like the Yamaha R15 to distance places in the worst of terrains and there is definitely a large market in the touring segment.

It’s been a painful wait and no news seems to be coming from Honda’s side despite the KTM Duke 390 almost ready to be unveiled. As has been the case with most Honda launches, it’s been always been a surprise and we hope Honda brings these bikes soon to our shores. But we’d rather love to have the 500s- considering that except for a few cycle parts , both bikes are identical and there shouldn’t be any major variation in cost with just a difference in cubic capacity.

As for now, all we can do is wait!

  1. I have ridden the CB500X in Thailand December last year and bike is very agile and responsive.

In India it will be a good it, as it can be bridge the gap between 250 and 1000cc variants currently on offer here
