BMW loads its 1-Series luxury hatchback with more features as it introduces the Performance edition of the car in India. Better aerodynamics, rear spoiler with fins, racing stripes, black front grill add to the sportiness of this German hatchback. But here is the thing. Except for the performance badge and the above mentioned add ons, the BMW 1-Series Performance edition does not get any “performance” upgrade.
The BMW 1-Series M Performance is powered by the same diesel engine that is found on the current generation. The 2-litre 4-cylinder diesel unit churns out about 143 hp of power and 320Nm of torque. The car propels from a standstill to a ton in 8.6 seconds. A 1.6-litre 4-cylinder unit will also be available which will produce 136 hp of power and 220Nm of torque and will hit the 100kph mark in 8.7 seconds.
The BMW 1-Series comes as a response to Mercedes’ luxury hatchback, A-Class special edition which was introduced last month. You have to rush to the showrooms as the 1-Series Performance edition will be sold in limited numbers of 111 and will be available only till July 25, 2014. If you are willing to buy something exclusive at an affordable price tag, the BMW 1-Series is something you should seriously consider.
