The upcoming BMW 1 series, which is being called by BMW India as the “Dynamic 1”, is now available for pre-bookings (Those interested can either pre-book by calling 1800 102 2269 or by visiting www.dynamic1.in). The first 100 bookings will be offered Complimentary BMW Service Inclusive Plus, which is a special customer centric service package. The India launch is slated to happen tomorrow and stay tuned to Motoroids for full report on BMW 1 Series India launch.

Powering the India-spec BMW 1 Series (diesel variant) is the familiar 2.0-litre TwinPower turbocharged oil burner producing 143 bhp of max power and 320 Nm of peak torque. This engine has an ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 20.58 kmpl. The India bound BMW 116i (which is the petrol variant) employs a turbocharged 1.6-liter unit that puts out a peak power and torque of 136bhp and 220Nm respectively. This engine returns a fuel efficiency of 16.28 kmpl in the ARAI tests.

The upcoming BMW 1 Series hatchback will be brought to us via Completely Knocked Down (CKD) route and as is obvious, will be assembled at BMW India’s Chennai assembly plant.

It may be noted that the legendary Bavarian luxury auto-maker is being outsold by both Mercedes and Audi in Indian car market. While Mercedes India, the Indian subsidiary of popular German luxury car maker, has planned to launch a range of new cars in the country in a bid to continue its supremacy over immediate rivals, new cars from BMW India such as the 1 Series, might pose as biggest hurdles in Mercedes India’s path to glory.
