Mr. Baba Kalyani, Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Forge Limited., was conferred with the “IOD Distinguished Fellowship Award 2013” at New Delhi on friday, 19th july 2013. The award was presented by Dr M Veerappa Moily, Union Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas on Friday, 19th July 2013 at Ashok Hotel, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi in the presence of a distinguished international gathering of business leaders, experts, jurists, economists, legislators and policy makers on the occasion of IOD’s 24th Annual Day.

The IOD Distinguished Fellowship Award was conferred on Mr Baba Kalyani for his distinguished track record of entrepreneurship that has set extremely high standards of ethical and transparent conduct and for Bharat Forge’s contribution towards building ‘Brand India’.

Accepting the Award, Mr. Baba N Kalyani, Chairman & Managing Director, Bharat Forge said, “Bharat Forge has always been globally committed to the highest standards of corporate governance in terms of transparency, regulatory compliances and best practices while keeping its focus on sustained and responsible growth across various continents. I accept this honour as a major endorsement of our corporate philosophy by an outstanding institution of excellence. It is, indeed, a great honour to be considered worthy of the IOD Distinguished Fellowship Award”. He thanked the Executive Council of Institute of Directors for this honour.

The Institute of Directors (IOD), a registered Society was established in 1990 as an independent, apex association of directors, to spearhead India’s Quality revolution and build ‘Brand India’ by focusing on directors’ training and development. Its main focus is on building tomorrow’s boards by realigning their moral compass and making them more ethical, transparent & accountable.

Each year, the Executive Council of the Institute of Directors selects its Fellows among public figures of eminence for conferring the “Distinguished Fellowship” Award for their outstanding contribution to public welfare, business and society. The first Distinguished Fellowship of Institute of Directors was conferred on Bharat Ratna Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam in 1994. Other previous awardees include Sri Kapil Sibal, Union Law Minister, Shri TKA Nair, Principal Secretary to Prime Minister of India, Shri Naresh Goyal, Chairman, Jet Airways, Dr Vijay Mallya, Chairman UB Group, (Dr) Justice Arijit Pasayat, former Chairman, C.A.T, Shri Arun Maira, Member, Planning Commission, Sri Ashok Chawla, Chairman, CCI, Dr. Prodipto Ghosh, former Secretary, Ministry of Environment and Forests, Shri P. K. Sinha, Secretary, Shipping, Sri P.K. Misra, Secretary, Personnel, Government of India.
