At the national launch of the Imperio pick-up, Mahindra kept insisting that its more SUV-like in character than any pick-up they’d ever done. So it doesn’t come as a surprise when Mahindra displayed this ornamented version of the Imperio at the Auto Expo 2016, to showcase the customization possibilities with their latest truck.
Called the Imperio Double Cab Customized variant, the pick-up gets trendy accessories like a chromed bull bar up front, custom side steps, blacked out alloy wheels with red accents, exaggerated wheel arch trim, window shades and chromed rails with high-mounted fog lamps for the bed. The exteriors are finished in metallic grey, and contrasted with matte black vinyl layered sections which include the roof, a part of the bonnet and the lower half of the vehicle. Red pin-striping along the sides differentiate the the two coloured sections
The interiors feature new, black seat covers with white ribs, and ‘Imperio’ stitching on the backrests. The rear bennch seat also receives a similar upholstery. The VX variant of the Imperio already comes with features like the 2-Din music system, AC, power windows and remote locking. The VX variant also gets smart tracker to keep a track on the driver’s whereabouts.
Available with single cabin and double cabin options, the new Imperio is based on Mahindra’s Ingenio platform and retails from INR 6.25 lakh. The Mahindra Imperio is powered by a 2.5 litre four cylinder Direct Injection engine with Common Rail Technology that is good for 75 hp and 220Nm of torque with a claimed fuel economy of 13.55 kmpl, has a load carrying capacity of 1240 kg and can reach a top speed of 120 kmph.
