Mahindra & Mahindra has launched its new premium pick-up range of trucks, the Imperio, for the Indian market. This new pick-up, conceptualized and developed in house at the Mahindra Research Valley at Chennai, is aimed to cater to small and medium businesses and is available with BSIII and BSIV compliant engines. Available in single cabin and double cabin, the new Imperio is based on Mahindra’s Ingenio platform and has been launched at a price tag of Rs 6.25 lakh. The new Imperio will be manufactured at Mahindra’s manufacturing facility at Chakan Plant.
With its SUV inspired styling, Imperio gets an updated exterior with the addition of a new grille, updated headlights, new bumper, 16-inch radial tubeless tyres and three metallic colours. Moreover, the new Imperio also benefits from technology features such as Fuel Smart technology, independent front suspension for a fatigue-free drive, brakes with LSPV, follow me home lights, keyless entry, updated dashboard, 2-din music system, power windows and HVAC with four-step blower.
The single cabin and double cabin versions would be available in two-variants each – Base and VX. The VX variant will come packed with the 2-Din music system, AC, power windows and remote locking. The VX model also gets smart tracker to keep a track on the driver’s whereabouts.
The pick-up is powered by a 2.5 litre four cylinder Direct Injection engine with Common Rail Technology that churns out 75 hp of power and 220Nm of torque with a claimed fuel economy of 13.55 kmpl, has a load carrying capacity of 1240 kg and can reach a top speed of 120 kmph. Power is delivered in two modes – power and eco – with eco mode claimed to deliver 7% better fuel economy.
