Audi to present Q2 concept at the Paris Auto Salon

First came the Audi Q7 and blew away the competition. Well, almost. Then came the Q5 and it became a good alternative to older and more established rivals. Recently, Audi introduced the Q3 and it won’t be an understatement to say that it is almost flying out of showrooms. Now, Audi seems to be working on yet another Q vehicle to capture whatever little part of luxury crossover market remains to be conquered. Audi will come up with the ‘smaller than Q3’ crossover concept at the Paris Auto Salon this September. No prizes for those who guessed the name of this vehicle to be Q2.

The upcoming Q2 will be derived from the A1. This means that Q2 will be a direct relative of the Volkswagen Polo on which the A1 is based on.  It is being said that a lot of styling cues will come from the Quattro concept car and the Q2 should be positioned slightly above the A1. It may be noted that localising the Q2 for production on India should not be a very big task as parent manufacturer Volkswagen already manufactures the Polo at its  Chakan plant near Pune. If Audi India feels that Q3 is for the ‘young’, the manufacturer will all probability target the same audience with the Q2. And it makes sense. An Audi for the young and emerging but definitely not for being chauffeur driven. No?
