A year after the Audi R8 LMS won the 24 Hours Nürburgring, the R8 V10 Plus “selection 24h” special edition is paying homage to the R8LMS’ 323 wins in various races since 2009. The Selection 24h named after the Nurburgring 24 hours where it won will have only 24 units of it ever produced.
Based on the R8 V10 Plus, the fastest production Audi of all time, the 5.2-liter V10 mid-engine on the car develops 610 hp with a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.2 seconds. Top speed is rated at 330 km/h.
Over and above the standard R8 V10 Plus, the Selection 14h gets a host of exclusive changes. To start with, the technical package in the “selection 24h” special edition comprises dynamic steering along with adaptive damper control system. The cutting age Audi magnetic ride is also on offer, and so is the Audi laser lighting.
The car is finished in a shade of Suzuka gray as the basic color, with mythos black and Misano red highlights reminiscing the Audi R8 LMS. Generous use of carbon fibre has been made in the construction. The front spoiler, wing mirrors, engine compartment cover, rear wing and diffuser are all made of the lightweight material in gloss-finish. Even the sideblades with matt-finish “R8 24h” logo get the carbon-fibre treatment.
The sport exhaust system gets black trimmed pipes. Monstrous 20-inch forged aluminum wheels in 10-spoke Y design are painted in gloss anthracite black.
Inside the cabin, the limited-edition model offers full-leather upholstery, a rotor gray trim with the headliner finished in Alcantara. Carbon fibre is used generously on the inside too, with the air vents the inlays on the dash finished in the material. The illuminated door sill trims also get the gloss-finish carbon treatment. The door sill trims also display the serial numbers 1 to 24 for each of the limited-edition cars. Another exclusive feature is the projection of the Audi R8 logo onto the road surface through entry dooes.
The Audi R8 “selection 24h” will be on view to the public for the first time at the AUDI AG presentation area in the paddock at the 24 Hours Nürburgring. Orders for the special model can be placed for the car starting today, May 10, 2016 – if you can spare EUR 229,000 (INR 1.75 crore), in Germany that is.
