The premium luxury car market, just the way it is in the rest of the world, is dominated in India as well by the German triad of Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Audi India seems to be trying to catch up with the roaring business its compatriot counterparts are doing in the country. The Ingolstadt based company’s market share in the premium car market is still much lesser when compared with the rest of the two brands. The German carmaker, during this Expo will try to expand its reach by bringing out the economical Q3 crossover. The compact vehicle will take the hit selling BMW X1 head on and try to garner some volumes for its maker in the process. The new SUV has been caught testing several times on the streets of Mumbai, and is looked upon keenly by those hunting for a premium SUV in the Rs 30 lakh bracket and not very happy with what the X1 has to offer.
Apart from the entry level Q3, another attraction on the Audi stands would be the sportier S6 version of the company’s A6 sedan. Powered by a 4 liter 420 PS engine, the S6 is both driver’s and back bencher’s delight. Both Q3 and S6 are expected to be introduced sometime during 2012.
Audi will also bring to its exhibit the hybrid A3 e-tron to underline its eco sensibilities. We may also expect the mean looking R8 supercar to grace the Audi exhibit area during the Expo.
