Zenica Group, established by London return entrepreneur Mr. Rashy Todd, has been instrumental in growth of Audi in India. They own and operate Audi Gurgaon and Audi Delhi Central, and claim most Audi’s in India have gone through their showrooms. Last year in April, they decided to venture into used luxury car market and no prizes for guessing under what brand name they launched it: ‘Audi Approved Plus’ – Audi’s global brand for selling certified used luxury cars. A year later, Audi Approved Plus, Gurgaon has launched their digital platform – www.audiapproved.in, so that customers can search for their dream cars from comfort of their homes or during boring board meetings. We like the look and feel of the website. It lists all the cars available in stock with good quality pictures.
Audi Approved Plus sells all luxury cars from Audi (obviously) to BMW, Mercedes Benz, Jaguar, Land Rover and Porsche. Whenever we mention ‘used’ cars in India, we become skeptical about the car’s history, reliability and overall upkeep. While buying a luxury car, reliability and good upkeep and regular maintenance become even more important. To make sure that their customers do not end up with a lemon, their team makes sure that all cars undergo thorough 300+ inspection checkpoints and they only buy cars which have been serviced at authorized service stations and have no accident history.
Talking about the philosophy behind the brand, Mr. Mikey Todd, Director, Sales & Marketing, Audi Approved Plus, Gurgaon said “With the amount of distrust & unfair practices in the pre-owned car market in India, Audi Approved Plus brings high credibility & trust for the people selling their cars & the ones buying them. Through Audi Approved Plus, people can be confident of their transaction and the fact that they’re getting the best possible deal there could before their Luxury car.”
To give their customers the same experience as buying a used car, they have also created 26,000 sq ft of space which can house 33 cars at any given time and have luxury feel all throughout their showroom. We got to see several luxury cars ranging from supercar Audi R8 to luxury limousine Audi A8L and as we were sitting in the meeting room looking at their presentation, a Porsche Cayenne GTS came in and got parked next to a Range Rover. They also had relatively affordable used, premium cars like Audi A3 and BMW 3 series. Everyone is welcomed into the facility with a smile from the friendly staff and one can walk around admiring the beauties. This is the only standalone AAP showroom in India and probably in the world. Most AAP showrooms are an annex to the new Audi showroom.
Talking about how the used cars are sourced, most are cars bought by Audi Gurgaon or Audi Delhi Central in exchange of a new Audi. Since Zenica also owns Porsche Dealership in Gurgaon, they also get Porsche’s and other cars from that dealership. Some however sell it directly to Audi Approved Plus without going for an exchange of a new car.
