A new video by Mahindra details the new XUV500 facelift with a pretty host. Immensely popular in its segment, the XUV500 now comes loaded with new features that elevate the premium appeal, while a few cosmetic changes on the outside look to add more glitz to the car.

The notable new features that the face-lift brings are the new electric sunroof with an anti-pinch function and the new, 8-way, electrically adjustable front seats, logo projection lamps on the ORVMs, push button start, passive keyless entry, reverse camera with dynamic assist (audio & visual), and a new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

The mildly refreshed exteriors benefit from new static bending projector headlamps with LED light guides, a new, evolutionary “toothy” grille with chrome inserts, new chromed fog lamp bezels on a freshly styled front bumper, along with a cleaner bonnet design, the latter being hydraulically assisted for easier opening.

The sides are highlighted by new, 17 inch, 10-spoke alloy wheels and chrome lining below the windows, while the rear gets a new chrome applique over the registration plate recess.  The interiors are now draped in new black & beige trim, along with the dual tone dashboard. Illuminated scuff plates, a new voice command system, new icy blue lounge lighting and freshly lit instrument cluster round off the new features.

Under the skin, Mahindra adds its micro-hybrid technology, which lets the new XUV500 return up to 16 km/l (ARAI certified). The new Regenerative Braking with Intelligent Energy Management recovers the energy lost in excess braking, and uses it to charge the battery. During acceleration, the battery charging is disengaged to improve vehicle performance.

The new XUV500 is powered by a 2.2 liter MHawk diesel engine that outputs 140 bhp and 330 Nm of torque. It’s mated to a six speed manual transmission, while both front wheel drive and all wheel drive options are available. A new W10 variant has been added this time around, which packs most of the aforementioned features.
