Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that the 2014 S65 AMG will be unveiled next month at L.A. Auto Show. The Los Angeles Motor Show is slated to take place from November 22 to December 1. We reported earlier when the S65 AMG was caught on video during its filming for a commercial. The S65 AMG will be powered by a V12 block.
S65 AMG sports very minor changes when compared to the S63 AMG. Changes from the S63 include additional chrome on the front grille, shiny mesh on the front bumper, completely different alloy wheels and also the “V12 Biturbo” lettering on the front fender. This V12 motor in the sporty S-Class will be a 6.0-liter engine, which is rumored to produce 630 HP (463 kW) and a monstrous 737 lb-ft (1,000 Nm) of torque. Mated to a 7-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT gearbox, the 2014 S65 AMG will dismiss the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) mark in just in 4 seconds.
While being such a powerful beast, the S65 AMG won’t be burning a hole in your pocket. It will return a respectable 20 mpg US (24.3 mpg UK or 11.6 liters / 100 km). These are very good figures taking in account the size of this car and the engine.
The S65 AMG will also be offered with the Optional Magic Body Control system. This system has a stereo camera mounted within the windscreen which scans the road ahead and automatically modifies suspension damping beforehand, to multiple or individual wheels within a fraction of a seconds. This technology is featured already in the W222 S-class.
Deliveries are expected to commence in March 2014.
