4th Gen Honda City, WRV, and Jazz To Be Discontinued Soon

Honda is soon going to stop the production of the Jazz, 4th gen City, and WRV. This move will result in just two Honda cars being on sale in India, namely, the Amaze and 5th gen City. However, this will soon change in the year 2023 as Honda is developing two SUVs for India. This move shouldn’t be surprising since these models are quite old now and Honda is also missing SUVs from its portfolio.

The Honda Jazz is set to be discontinued in November 2022, while the WR-V which is a derivative of the Jazz will be discontinued in March 2023. Meanwhile, the 4th gen City will be discontinued by December 2022. The oldest product among these three is the 4th gen City which was launched way back in 2014. This car soldiered on even after the 5th gen City was replaced hence catering to the lower end of the sedan category. The 4th gen City is one of the most vfm sedans that you can buy today and Honda even added a touchscreen infotainment to the lower SV variant recently.

The Jazz was launched back in 2015 and was dicontinued for a brief period after the BS6 norms kicked in. It came back on sale a while later as a petrol only model. The newest car in the lineup is the WRV which is essentially a crossover version of the Jazz. The WRV still sell more compared to the City and Jazz considering its crossover-like bodystyle and hence it will be disontinued in 2023.

The WRV will be replaced by the compact SUV which is set to launch in 2023. This compact SUV will have more SUV traits rather than a crossover one and it will rival the likes of the Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet and Hyundai Venue to name a few. There will also be a mid-size SUV which will go up against the Hyundai Creta and Kia Sonet. The carmaker will start the production of the SUVs codenamed 3US/31XA in August 2023 and it is expected to sell around 40000 units in the first year.
