Hyundai India has launched the 2016 Tucson in India with a price tag starting at INR 18.99 lakh (Ex-Showroom, Delhi). Placed between the Creta Compact SUV and the Santa Fe premium SUV in the company’s Indian product portfolio, the 2016 Tucson is based on the Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 (FS2.0) Design Philosophy.

Visually, the model receives the signature hexagonal shaped grille flanked by double barrel LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs. Also on offer are fog lamps, chrome door handles, 18 inch diamond cut alloy wheels, LED tail lights, integrated spoiler with stop lamp and twin chrome exhausts.
On the inside, the 2016 Tucson comes equipped with dual tone interiors, leather upholstery, 10 way adjustable driver seat, electronically adjustable and foldable wing mirrors with heat function, puddle lamps, cruise control, 8 inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual zone climate control, reclining function for second row seats, electric power brake, power operated tail-gate, 3 drive modes (Normal, Eco and Sport).

Safety features on the 2016 Tucson will include dual airbags and ABS as standard while the higher variants will receive curtain airbags too. A few other safety features are Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), Down-hill Brake Control (DBC), rear view parking camera, with guide lines as well as front and rear parking sensors.
The new Tucson can be had with a petrol engine as well as a diesel engine. The former is a 2.0-litre four cylinder unit that is tuned to produce 155 hp at 6200 rpm and 192 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. The diesel motor, on the other hand; is capable of producing 185 hp at 4000 rpm while the peak torque of 400 Nm comes up at 1750-2750 rpm. Transmission duties are taken care of by a six speed manual transmission as standard while a six speed automatic transmission is also available as an option.
