Since the time Hyundai India launched the Creta compact SUV in July last year, the model has gone on to become a popular product, crossing sales of one lakh units in the first year itself. Following the success of the Creta, the company added a few new variants of the compact SUV including a limited edition anniversary model, an automatic transmission equipped to the petrol variant, and a lower spec diesel automatic variant.

Now, as the Company is readying itself to unveil a facelift of the model at the 2016 Sao Paolo Auto Show, reports suggest that the car maker has already started working on the second generation of the compact SUV. The next-gen model, which is due sometime in the year 2021, will reportedly be offered as five seater as well as a seven seater configuration.

Hyundai believes that both the configurations will have two separate categories of buyers that will cater to the respective demands. The Korean automaker plans to target both these markets in order to cater to a wider audience.

Currently, the 7 seater configuration in Indian cars is offered by the Honda BR-V, Mahindra TUV300 as well as its higher segment including the Mahindra XUV500 and the upcoming Tata Hexa. If the 7 seater Hyundai Creta does make it to the production line, it is most likely to see a greater demand, at least in India.
