Regulars here would remember that we reported in detail when Mercedes published a family picture of the 2014 E Class line up of cars. The said pic gave us a clear image of the upcoming E63 AMG and we were prompt with showing our excitement for the AMG variant of the refreshed E.
Mercedes-Benz has now released all the details of the 2014 E63 AMG.
As we made out from the above mentioned pic, the refreshed Mercedes E63 AMG will come in both saloon and estate body types and will sport a more aggressive fascia than the non-AMG variants.
The new E63 AMG will make its first public appearance at the fast approaching 2013 Detroit Auto Show and will go on sale in the April this year.
The E63 will get a new S-Model that will sport the 4-Matic all-wheel drive system and will be Merc’s answer to the Audi Quattro rival. The S variant goes on sale in July.
Powering the car is a 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8 that has a max power output of 550bhp and a peak torque figure of 720Nm. This means that the 2014 E63 AMG has an advantage of 32bhp-20 Nm over the current version.
The new E63 AMG S, the all-wheel drive variant, gets a 577bhp-800Nm (!!) motor that is mated to a AMG 7-speed Speedshift MCT automatic ‘box.
The Mercedes E63 AMG has a claimed 0-100kmph timing of supercar rivalling 3.6 seconds and the top whack is electronically limited to 250 kmph.
The E63 AMG gets AMG Ride Control for the adaptive suspension and the S-Model also comes with a differential lock for the rear axle.
We just hope that Mercedes India is quick with bringing in the updated E to our country.
