2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray revealed: Images and details

In the 2014 Chevrolet corvette Stingray, GM has unveiled the superstar of the2014 NAIAS also known as the Detroit Motor Show. To iconic ‘Vette in its latest avatar is powered by a 6.2 liter 450 bhp, 610 Nm V8, which makes it the most powerful corvette in its entire lifetime. Mated with a seven speed manual transmission (or a six speeder auto), the new engine makes the stingray the fastest Corvette in its history of 60 years.

The Stingray Corvette also gets a new chassis, which even after being 45 kg lighter, manages to be 55 percent stiffer. Use of lightweight components like carbon fibre and composite materials in body construction has facilitated the achievement.

The Americal Muscle car, in the 2014 version gets a liberal dose of technology too. The new car will feature five drive modes – Eco, weather, Tour, Sport and Track. Various modes are mapped differently for a different engine behavior, throttle response and steering sensitivity for the kind of conditions you are driving in.


The new generation car has a longer wheelbase, wider track and a 50:50 front: rear weight bias. Suspension has been modified partly, but still maintains the  transverse leaf springs. The steering is claimed to be more feelsome, and handling is claimed to have been improved significantly.

On the inside, the Stingray witnesses a complete overhaul. High quality materials abound, including leather and carbon fibre. Two eight inch touchscreens help control most in-cabin functions.

Ajn optional Z51 Performance Package is also available with a dry sump system, close-ratio gearbox, electronic limited-slip differential, larger wheels and Bilstein dampers with optional Magnetic Ride Control.
