We have been reporting in detail about the upcoming BMW 2 Series of cars that are currently being developed by the Bavarian auto maker.
The BMW 2 Series Coupe and Convertible versions will be positioned right in the middle of the 1 series and the 3 series sedan. The 2 Series will become to the 1 series what the 4 series will be to the 3 series.
This means that the 2 Series will be basically a new body variant of the BMW 1 Series and will be targeted at the customers looking for a stylish but “cheaper than 4 series” BMW Coupe/Convertible.
Seen here are spy shots of the BMW 2 Series Convertible that has been caught testing in Sweden.
Powering the new 2-Series Convertible will be a series of four-pot engines in both petrol and diesel guises. The petrol engines’ output are being expected to range from 150 to 218 hp. The diesel motor is expected to have a peak power output of 214hp. Transmission options will be a six-speed manual ‘box and an eight-speed auto transmission.
There is also a M Power variant in the pipeline. To be christened as the BMW M235i, the car will be powered by BMW’s six-cylinder TwinPower turbocharged engine which would be tuned to have a max power output of about 320PS.
