Friedrich Nitschke , BMW’s M division Chief, recently announced that the Bavarian automaker might commence the production of the M8 supercar in 2016.

It may be noted that the BMW M8 supercar was designed to celebrate BMW’s 100th anniversary and will become the most expensive and powerful M Power car when launched.

It is being said that the BMW M8 might take a cue from the i8 and come with a high input of carbon fiber and aluminum. The M8 will also be as light as the i8 and will be easy to drive.

Powering the car will be a 4.4 litres twin-turbo V8 engine with a max power output of around 600 horsepower. The M8 is also expected to have a 0-96kmph timing of merely 3 seconds and a top whack of 320 kmph. The car might also come with an electric system paired with the petrol engine.

BMW will unveil the i8 plug-in hybrid supercar in 2014 and M8 in 2016. This will be done to ensure that the two cars don’t eat into sales of each other.

  1. Cant see the pics again.. 🙁 Will this be a Mid-Engined..? BMW should seriously consider an Mid-Engined baby, they do have the engine (4.4L TT V8)to match the number of horses required.. It could go up against the R8..
