It is a widely known fact that Korean Auto giant Hyundai is in process of readying a facelift for the Elantra sedan. It is being said that the Elantra facelift will make its public debut towards the end of this year and the car is likely to sport a slightly revised front and rear end.

It may be noted that the current gen Elantra has to be among the best looking sedans to have ever come from the popular car maker and the car has won plenty of accolades for its design. The Elantra, which is also sold as the Avante in some markets, has been a top seller for Hyundai in the US market and the facelift should be a right step to preserve the freshness of the car.

The current gen Elantra made its public debut more than 2 years ago and while the car still manages to look stunning, a minor nip and tuck job won’t hurt. The Elantra facelift was recently spotted testing and from the looks of it, would come with a lot of minor changes. The facelift is expected to come with a revised front bumper, new foglamps and re-profiled headlamps. As can be made out from the pics, the car will also get new design alloy wheels. At the rear, the car will get slight revisions made to its taillamps and the interiors too are likely to get minor updates.

It has been only a few months since the Elantra has been in India and the facelift is unlikely to come to us before end of next year. The Elantra, which battles it out against the Toyota Corolla Altis and the Chevrolet Cruze in Indian market, is the highest selling car in its segment. Powering the petrol variant of the car is a 1.8 liter, four cylinder, normally aspirated engine that benefits from variable valve technology. The engine has a max power output of 148 Bhp and a peak torque figure of 181 Nm. The diesel variant is powered by a 1.6 Liter common rail turbo diesel engine that has a max power output of 126 Bhp and a peak torque figure of 265 Nm. Both the engines can be ordered either with a 6 speed manual or a 6 speed automatic gearbox. Safely expect these motors to be carried over to the facelift.
