The ZZR1400 or the ZX14R (for America) has been slugging it out with the Suzuki Hayabusa for the ‘Fastest Bike in the World’ for quite a while now. The ‘Busa has retained the title for quite a while now, but Kawasaki, with the 2012 version of its ZZr1400 is all set to snatch it away from the Suzuki, and in an extremely emphatic manner.
Kawasaki have revealed the images and details about its new 2012 ZZR1400, and the bike with an increased cubic capacity of 1441cc (from an earlier 1352cc) claims to be faster than the Hayabusa. The new ZZR1400, according to Kawasaki will be the fastest accelerating production bike in the country. While the power and torque figures are not out yet, one can comfortably expect this monster to dish out well above 200 horses, as the previous version already produced 187 bhp.
The chassis for the new bike has been overhauled too for better stability and balance. The new engine is said to deliver more torque across the rev range and substantially more power in the mid-hige rev range. The new bike will come loaded with electronic wizardry to prevent all that crazy amount of power from charring the rear wheel. Traction control and various power modes come as standard on the bike.
It seems no new bike would be complete without traction control and a selection of different power modes, and the new ZZR is no exception, gaining both. The 2012 version, however, retain the iconic styling of its predecessor. Only minor changes have been made to the fairing, side panel and seat to indicate a mild refresh. Here’s the detailed specification sheet of the bike, followed by the official images.
