Volkswagen Ameo Class 2019 Round 3 Comes To An End

Another adrenaline-packed weekend comes to an end at the MMRT race track in Chennai, the southern part of India. Volkswagen Motorsport concluded yet another round of the 2109 Ameo cup, on what was a rather wet race track. Drivers had to opt for wet tyres instead of their racing slicks and battles against each other on the track. The first race saw Pratik Pandurang Sonawane, who started from fifth place, take a spot on the podium by coming third. Saurav Bandyopadhyay took the win while Shubhomoy Ball came home second. The second round was more interesting as drivers started in reverse order, making their way to the top. Pratik Sonawane took the first place, followed by Siddharth Mehdiratta in second and Shubhomoy Ball in third place.

On the conclusion of the Round 3 of Ameo Class 2019 National Championship Sirish Vissa, Head of Volkswagen Motorsport India said, “It’s been a challenging weekend for the team and drivers due to extreme weather conditions. We are proud of our technical team who have put in a lot of efforts in servicing the cars to changing the tyres from slicks to wets and back to slick tyres for the final race. It is always exciting to see top drivers putting in such close lap times. The Race two was quite difficult, the drivers showed maturity keeping the cars on track in the immensely challenging conditions. The drivers are happy with the way the cars have performed and mechanically the cars have been brilliant from the get-go.” He further added, “When you see such close competition amongst them, you are sure that the series is moving in the right, competitive direction.”

Mr.Rayomand Banajee, Driver Coach Motorsport India said, “We are proud of our drivers. All the drivers in this race have set a benchmark in terms of driving standards by putting on clean races we all have come across. Yet the racing was exciting with numerous racers moving up and down the order. Three different race winners in three races and an extremely close Championship battle are a testament to how close the grid is.”
