The Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 is an elder sibling of the Alto 800. Differentiating it from the 800cc model are subtle cosmetical upgrades and a 1.0-litre petrol motor which produces 67 ps at 6000 rpm and 90 Nm at 3500 rpm. A CNG powered mill is also on offer and that produces 58 ps at 6000 rpm and 78 Nm at 3500 rpm. The petrol engine comes mated with a manual and automatic transmission and the CNG unit comes paired with a 5-speed MT only.
On the outside, the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 gets subtle cosmetic upgrades. The hatch gets a smart looking bumper and grille with some chrome accents. Illumination is through an aggressive looking, conventionally lit headlamp cluster and fog lamps which are placed inside a blacked out insert. The car sits on 13-inch wheels, gets internally adjustable, body-coloured ORVMs and body coloured door handles.

Both the engines are fuel-efficient and are rated to offer a mileage of 24 Kmpl with petrol and 32 km/kg with CNG. The 1.0-litre petrol motor is eager to rev and combined with the light weight of the car, makes things feel zippy behind the wheel. As a budget car, the steering system doesn't get a return to centre feature and feels vague, however, gets the job done within city limits for feeling light and effortless. The AMT equipped Alto K 10 makes driving in the city easy and is the most affordable option if you're looking to buy an automatic.

I bought an Alto K10 Vxi last year (2011). In a little time, I’ve had the vehicle with me, I have done around 9000 km.
Fuel economy was the chief factor that made me buy this car. Without AC, I get about 16 kmpl in the city and 22-23 kmpl on the highway. Turn the AC on and the figures drop down to 14kmpl in the city and 20kmpl on highway (if driven at speeds below 80kmph).
