SPIED: SsangYong Korando caught testing in India

We reported in detail when Mahindra and Mahindra completed the buyout of Korean SUV maker Ssangyong. We also brought a lot of info to our readers when Ssangyong decided to make its presence felt to Indian car market by participating at the 2012 Auto Expo. The Indian company now plans to soon launch the Ssangyong Korando in a segment higher to the XUV500.

Based on a monocoque platform, the Korando comes with a 2.0L turbo diesel engine producing 175PS of power. The car is a modern, compact SUV which is designed and built primarily for the European markets. The engine is mated with a 6-speed manual transmission. The current generation of Korando is a huge improvement over its ugly looking predecessor which was totally out of line with contemporary design.
