Mahindra Scorpio N Variants Explained

The Big Daddy of SUVs is here and it has something for everyone! Priced between ₹11.99 lakh and ₹19.49 lakh for the manual variants, the new Scorpio-N offers as many as 25 variants! Though the prices of the automatic and 4×4 variants are awaited, let’s take a look at all the variants and see what they have to offer:

Z2

The main feature highlights of the base Z2 variant include signature dual-barrel headlamps, LED taillamps, LED turn indicator on ORVM, 17-inch steel wheels, a touchscreen infotainment system, steering mounted audio controls (Petrol only), 2nd row A/C vents, ABS, EBD, dual airbags, ISOFIX child mounts and electric power steering (Petrol only). Other features include auto engine start/stop, a 4.2-inch MID, front USB ports, and power windows.

Powertrain choices: 132 PS Diesel MT, Petrol MT

Z4

The Z4 variant adds an 8-inch touchscreen with wired Android Auto and Apple Carplay, cruise control, full fabric upholstery, 2nd-row blower control, command seat with height and lumbar adjustment, and ESP suite of features including hill descent control and hill hold control for the automatic variants. Other features include 2nd row USB port, cooled glovebox, anti-pinch driver power window, electrically adjustable ORVM, electric power steering (Petrol and 175 PS Diesel) rear wiper with washer and defogger, a ski rack and rear spoiler.

Z6

The Z6 variant gets a sunroof with anti-pinch, Adrenox with bulit-in Alexa for the infotainment, in-built navigation, a 7-inch MID, Drive modes (Diesel only), what3words, ESP suite of features including hill descent control and hill hold control for manual variants in addition to automatics, wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay, connected car features and E-call with SOS switch.

Z8

Over the Z6 variant, the Z8 variant adds Coffee Black Leatherette interiors, 4Xplor 4×4 system with terrain modes, push buttons start/stop with keyless entry, electrically folding ORVM, side and curtain airbags, dual zone A/C, dual barrel LED projector headlamps, LED projector fog lamps, anti-pinch passenger power window, sting inspired LED DRLs, LED sequential turn indicator, TPMS, rear parking camera, auto headlamps, auto wiper, and 18-inch alloy wheels (automatic only).

Z8 L

The top-end Z8 L variant comes loaded with a 6-way power adjustable driver’s seat, Sony 12 speaker 3D sound system, front camera, driver drowsiness detection, front parking sensors, wireless charger(4WD Diesel AT only), 17-inch alloy wheels (MT only) and Captain seats as option( Petrol and Diesel 2WD MT and AT only).

Powertrain

The Mahindra Scorpio-N shares its powertrain with the Thar and XUV700. The 2-liter turbo petrol produces 203 hp and 370 nm of torque in the manual guise whereas the automatic variant produces 280 nm of torque. The 2.2-liter diesel engine comes in two states of tune. The lower variants produce 132 hp and 300 nm of torque and come mated to a 6 speed manual transmission. The higher variants produce 175 hp and 370 nm of torque in the manual guise whereas the automatic variants produce 400 nm of torque.

The 175 hp diesel variants also gets the Zip driving mode wherein the power is limited to 138hp whereas the Zap and Zoom mode produce the maximum power. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic for the petrol and 175 hp diesel variants. The Scorpio-N comes with rear wheel drive as standard and higher diesel variants can be had with 4WD. The off-road hardware includes a mechanical locking rear differential, an independent front suspension system, five-link rear suspension and an ESP-based brake locking front differential. It also gets Mahindra’s 4Xplor 4WD system with low range and four terrain modes which are Normal, Grass/Gravel/Snow, Mud/Rut and Sand.

The Mahindra Scorpio-N is available in 7 monotone colors including Dazzling Silver, Deep Forest, Grand Canyon, Everest White, Napoli Black, Red Rage and Royal Gold.
