Watch: Mahindra Scorpio N Detailed Walkaround And Gallery

Mahindra has finally launched the much-awaited Scorpio N at ₹11.99 lakh. Mahindra has only revealed the prices for the manual variants as of now, These introductory prices will be applicable only for the first 25000 bookings. Prices for the automatic and 4×4 variants will be revealed on the 21st of July. Watch our detailed walkaround of the SUV below along with a detailed image gallery:

Design

The design of the Scorpio-N is unmistakable Scorpio with a ton of modern bits thrown in. The front gets an upright and imposing face. The headlamps get dual LED projector units and dynamic turn indicators. The new Mahindra SUV logo can be seen sitting proudly in the six-slat grille. The lower half of the bumper gets a silver skid plate and the fog lamps are surrounded by C-shaped LED DRLs.

The side gets a healthy dose of black cladding and strong character lines along the length of the SUV. The window line gets a chrome strip and it features a kink midway which is reminiscent of the XUV500. The alloy wheels are diamond-cut units and it gets rear disc brakes as well. The rear will immediately remind you of Volvo SUVs thanks to the vertical LED taillamps. In typical Scorpio fashion, the tailgate will open sideways. The lower half of the bumper gets extensive black cladding as well as some chrome detailing. The reversing lights have been placed lower down in the bumper.

Interior

The interior gets a dual-tone black and brown theme. There is extensive use of silver finish for certain parts such as the door grab handles and the A/C vents surrounding. The center console houses an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that runs on the Adrenox system that made its debut on the XUV700. The system comes paired with Sony’s 12-speaker premium sound system which also features roof-mounted speakers for a surround sound experience. It also comes with built-in Amazon Alexa and what3words.

Below the touchscreen, it gets physical controls for the infotainment system and the dual-zone climate control. One can notice a lot of parts sharing with other Mahindras such as the XUV700 for parts such as the switchgear, the rocker panel that houses buttons for various functions, and the steering wheel. The instrument cluster is an analog unit with a large color MID. The center console houses the swivel wheel for Mahindra’s 4Xplor system which can be used to select the various terrain modes and 4 low.

The 2nd row gets A/C vents with separate blower control. The Scorpio N offers the option of captain and bench seats in the middle row. The 3rd row gets forward-facing seats, unlike the old Scorpio. The Scorpio N comes loaded with features such as front and rear cameras with sensors, 6-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, selectable drive modes, cruise control, wireless smartphone charging, keyless entry with push-button start/stop, 70+ connected car features, an electric sunroof, and wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay.

Safety

Safety features include 6 airbags, ISOFIX child mounts, TPMS, Traction Control, Electronic Stability Control, Hill Decent Control, Driver Drowsiness Detection, Brake Disc Wiping, Roll Over Mitigation, ABS, EBD, and Hill Decent Control.

Powertrain

The petrol engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter Mstallion unit that produces 200hp and 380nm of torque. The diesel engine is a 2.2-liter Mhawk unit that is available in two states of tune. The base Z2 gets 132hp and 300nm of torque whereas the higher variants produce 175hp and 400nm of torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission. The Scorpio also offers 4×4 as an option which comes with Mahindra’s 4xplor system which comes with Terrain modes.
