Cops Use Kawasaki ZX-14R To Chase Down Speeding Riders

If you decide to let go of the control over your right wrist and are testing the potential of your motorcycle, you better watch out for a quad-headlight green monster around East Yorkshire. Called as Operation Achilles, the Humberside Police are using an unmarked Kawasaki ZX-14R to chase down speeding motorcyclists. Why the Kawasaki ZX-14R? Because it is the world’s fastest accelerating production motorcycle. And with a top speed of 299 kph (that’s electronically limited BTW), there are very few machines that can outrun this maniac.

The 1,441cc 4-cylinder, DOHC, 4-valve, liquid-cooled engine tuned to deliver 200 PS of power (210 PS with RAM Air) and 158.2 Nm of torque. Kawasaki ZX-14R is equipped with speed detection and recording equipment to capture video evidence of offences.

Casualty Reduction Officer Simon Carlisle said, “We are concerned about the number of motorcyclists speeding on our rural roads, many travelling well over 100mph. Already this year, two motorcyclists have lost their lives. Since the start of April we have been out with the unmarked bike each weekend. One motorbike was clocked at 118 miles per hour, two others at 100mph and several over 90mph.”
