Hyundai has taken the wraps off the 2019 Elantra, giving the sedan a mid-life facelift while adding a longer list of equipment. Everything forward of the windshield is new with re-shaped headlamps with LED DRL’s, revised grille, a more muscular bonnet, triangular fog lamps. The exterior facelift is completed with new 18 inch aluminum wheels with intricate triangular design giving it a sharper and angular look. Around the back, there is change as well, which gives it an unmistakable look with new trunk lid, taillights and bumper.

Inside, Hyundai adds new safety kit with features such as, blind spot monitoring, driver attention alert, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning with active lane control, rearview camera (standard on all 2019 Elantra versions) with a cross-traffic alert system. The highlight inside the cabin is the addition of 8.0 inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with Bluetooth. The topmost model is equipped with Qi- compatible wireless device charging and a standard infinity premium sound system with eight speakers and Clari-Fi music restoration technology. Before this, the premium sound system was only available with the pricey Ulimate option.

Engine options for the new Elantra remain the same, which include 1.4 liter 4 cylinder turbo petrol with 130bhp, 1.6 liter 4 cylinder turbo petrol with 204bhp and 2.0 liter naturally aspirated 4 cylinder petrol with 149bhp. Hyundai is expected to bring in the new Elantra to the Indian market sometime next year, where it will rival Toyota Corolla, Skoda Octavia, and the new Honda Civic.
