Renault India is cashing in on the success of the Kwid hatchback since the time it was launched in September last year. The French automobile maker showcased two versions of the hatch during the 2016 Auto Expo. While the Kwid 1.0-L was launched back in August, the company now plans to launch the Kwid Easy-R AMT.
The upcoming version of the hatchback will feature a five speed Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). The model will have three modes on offer, Reverse, Neutral and Drive. Also on offer will be a crawl function that would help the driver move the vehicle forward and backward sans any throttle input.

Renault is most likely to pair the Easy-R AMT transmission with the 1.0-litre engine and therefore the model will be powered by the 999cc SCe motor that is tuned to produce 67 hp at 5500 rpm while the peak torque of 91 Nm will come up at 4250 rpm. Once launched, the Kwid Easy-R AMT will rival the Maruti Suzuki Celerio AMT and the Alto AMT. The model will be priced a notch higher than the 1.0-L engine equipped Kwid that retails for INR 3.95 lakh (Ex-Showroom, Delhi).
