Tata Hexa XT likely to be priced at INR 17.49 Lakhs (ex-showroom Pune); launch pushed to January 2017

Tata Motors is on a mission to get rid of its in-house created ghosts from the past by putting in a new soul in each of its upcoming product. While the Bolt hatchback and Zest compact sedan tried their level best to rebuild the brand’s image, the tiny Tiago led the race and has successfully set a new hope for Tata. And now, with a task to revive the car manufacturer’s position in the premium segment, the Hexa SUV is being prepped up. Reportedly, Tata will get this big baddy in the market next year in the 2nd week of January.

Well, that’s a long time from now but here’s some interesting news – prices of the Tata Hexa SUV have been revealed suggesting a fierce competition in the market. If reports are to be believed, the top trim of the SUV – the Tata Hexa XT 4×4 will be retailed at INR 17.49 Lakhs (Ex-Showroom Pune). The automatic variant – Hexa XTA is expected to bear a price-tag of INR 17.44 Lakhs (Ex-showroom Pune), which is cheaper because it will neither have 4WD, nor the ‘Super Drive Modes’*. Comparing it with its rivals, these revealed prices make the Tata Hexa the cheapest of the lot.

Initially showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo, the Tata Hexa impressed us with its bold looks and overall presence. And since then, test mules of the SUV have been spotted doing rounds on public roads on numerous occasions. The automaker has been delaying the launch of the Hexa SUV. Recently, there were rumours that the SUV will be launched during the festive season this year but that seems unlikely to happen. A week ago, the Hexa made an appearance at an event held in Jaipur. Potential customers were given a chance to drive the SUV and test its off-road capabilities. The Hexa managed to impress the customers as they expressed the same through social media channels.

The Tata Hexa will roll out with a 2.2L Varicor 400 engine that can fire out a power of 154 horses and a torque of 400Nm. The diesel unit will be strapped with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Also, a shift-on-the-fly 4WD system will be up on offer along with the *’Super Drive Modes’ will include four modes – Auto, Comfort, Dynamic and Rough Road. Safety features will include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD and Corner Stability Control, Vehicle Dynamic Control, Traction Control System and Engine Drag Control System.

On the visual front, the Tata Hexa is impressive AF! The new design philosophy has breathed new life in the upcoming Tata products and the same treatment can be seen on the inside as well. With the new Hexa, the maker will offer all-new interiors, multi-coloured ambient car illumination, an 8-way electrically adjustable driver seat, and much more. The infotainment will be taken care by a Harman sourced 5″ touch-screen module with JBL 10 speaker system with subwoofer and amplifier.
