New BMW 5 Series Unveil On 13th Oct : Videos And Everything You Need To Know

The all new, seventh generation, G30 BMW 5-series is on its way and will be unveiled on 13th of October.  The 5-series is one of the bestsellers for BMW and is a highly awaited model within the luxury segment. BMW has been teasing the car for some time now, and we already have some videos of the interior and exterior, which reveal quite a few details about the car.

The new 5 series will share the advanced alloys and composites of the bigger 7 series for a lightweight construction – expect the new model to be about 100kg lighter. The 5 series will also take some styling cues from its bigger sibling, specifically in terms of the exterior lighting systems and some surfaces.

The new 5 series is expected to feature semi-autonomous tech. One of the teaser videos of the car shows the driver taking both his hands off the wheel, which hints at the new 5er packing in some serious tech beneath its skin. BMW claims that the new 5 series would be smarter than ever, and that’s something to get really excited, knowing how important this model line is for the Bavarian carmaker.

As one would expect, the new 5 series will draw a lot from the bigger 7er. Tech that’s almost sure to trickle down includes a Steering and Lane Control Assist meant to work seamlessly with Active Cruise Control – feature already available on the 7. The car will also likely come loaded with something termed as Crossroads Warning system meant to warn the driver of crossing traffic and mitigate the possibility of a collision by making the brakes ready for an emergency stop.

Another talking point of the sedan’s hi-tech toys is the Remote View 3D view, which comprises cameras which can project a top view of your car from a distance via a smartphone app. The 5 series will also feature the M Sport steering wheel which is currently available on the 7 Series.

Powering the new 5 series will be a range of engines including 2.0-liter 4cyl and 3.0-liter straight-six diesel as well as petrol engines. Delivering the fireworks will be a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8. There will also be a plugin hybrid version with a 2.0-liter turbo petrol joined by an electric motor.
