The Renault Duster 4×4 was first spotted in India way back in March last year. (CLICK HERE to read this story) While it has been sometime since the last sighting of the 4wd variant, the Renault Duster 4×4 India launch is yet to take place and so far, the Indian subsidiary of Renault has refrained from providing us with the Renault Duster 4×4 India launch date. Now though, a new report that has surfaced on the web world says that the Renault Duster 4×4 launch in India will take place in later 2014.
Internationally, the diesel powered Renault Duster 4×4 variant is available with a K9K 1.5-liter four cylinder 8-valve diesel engine that has a max power of 107 hp and peak torque of 240 Nm. The petrol variant is powered by a 1.6 liter four cylinder engine that has a max power of 105 hp and peak torque of 148 Nm. Both these engines come mated to a six speed manual gearbox. For the Indian market though, safely expect Renault India to give the petrol engine variant a miss.
The 4X4 system that the Renault Duster features is a Nissan drivetrain component manufactured in Romania. Visually, save for the 4wd badges and stickers, there is nothing to tell apart a 4wd variant from its 2wd model. Quite obviously, the upcoming Renault Duster 4×4 variants will become the flagship models in the Duster range for Indian car market.

is 4×4 really required for the puny little duster ? The power output is more of a retuned Fiat multijet engine. Waste of money.
