A week ago, we had updated you guys about the import of the Lexus RC-F to India in Chennai. Since there was no official confirmation from Toyota, reports contemplated that the Luxury Sport Coupe was here as a private import. It is the first and the only RC-F to set foot in India. New spy images have emerged of another model from the Lexus portfolio to have been imported to India, suggesting that both models have been officially brought down by Toyota.
Lexus is Toyota’s luxury vehicle division and is likely to start operations in India with their all new Luxury Crossover – Lexus RX 450h Hybrid. Reportedly, the carmaker will launch its first ever product in India in early 2017. Speaking of the spy images, the units of Lexus RX 450h are parked in some Toyota facility as it can be seen that these Lexus’ are surrounded by a lot of Toyota models including the Crysta, Etios, and Fortuner. The spied models seem to be two different variants due to their different front grille design. These could likely be the RX 450h SE and the RX 450h F Sport.
In the international market, the Lexus RX 450h is rolled out with a 3.45L V6 Hybrid engine. The system output is rated close to 300 Bhp that is made by the V6 engine joining forces with an electric motor located at both – front and rear. It makes a torque of 335 Nm at 4,600 rpm. The power is pushed to wheels by a Hybrid Transmission equipped with sequential shift mode. The crossover can go from 0 to 100kmph in 7.8 seconds and do a top speed of 200kmph.
Initially, the Indian market will get the Hybrid version of the Lexus RX 450h and later the SE, Luxury and the F Sport version may join in. In some international markets, the Lexus RX 450h range starts from INR 33 Lakhs and goes up to INR 40 Lakhs. So, speaking of India prices, these Lexus’ are going to be higher since these models are going to be imported through the CBU route and will be exclusively sold through two dealerships located in Mumbai and Delhi.
