Yamaha Ray Z male oriented scooter launched at INR 48,555

Yamaha Ray Z

In line with its plan of keeping the focus on scooter segments of Indian two wheelers market, Yamaha India launched the a new variant of its Ray automatic scooter in Goa today at INR 48,555/- (Ex-showroom Delhi).

In what seems to be a classic case of expectations versus reality, what the several thousands of biking aficionados, who have been eagerly waiting for the launch of the speculated Yamaha YZF-R25 250cc sports biker, have got is a new variant of the Ray automatic scooter.

Christened as the Ray Z, the new variant is being touted as a more ‘male oriented’ version of the Ray automatic scooter. It may be noted that the Ray is the only scooter that Yamaha sells in India and is basically targeted at the fairer sex.

Unlike what we have been earlier hoping, the Ray Z does not get a more powerful engine or a muscular styling. Instead, what it actually gets are some decals and a small windscreen. The Ray Z, in all probability, will be to the Ray what the FZ-S is to the FZ-16.

Mechanically, the scooter remains unchanged and continues to be powered by a 113cc motor that has a max power output of 7.1PS.
