Yamaha R15 Gets New Colour Options In The Indonesian Market

Arguably the most popular entry-level sports motorcycle, the Yamaha R15 is well known all across the world. Apart from the Indian market, it is quite popular in foreign markets like Indonesia. This motorcycle, in the Indonesian market, has been launched in new wonderful colour options. The motorcycle is now offered in three new shades in Indonesia – Racing Blue, Racing Yellow and Racing Black. These new shades were added in the line up very recently. The model, in the Indian market, is sold Thunder Grey, Racing Blue and Darknight colour options. We hope to see these new colour options to make it here as well.

Despite being the same motorcycle, there are some subtle differences between the Indian and Indonesian model. While we Indians gets a conventional fork set up in the front, Yamaha sells the R15 with an upside down fork in the foreign country. This additional equipment comes with an additional cost as well, this very motorcycle costs INR 1,75,958 (IDR 3,576,000). Yamaha had to cut some corners to make the bike available at INR 1.40 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) in our market. That said, the bike is still an extremely popular model in our market and has been on sale for three generations now.

Coming back to the Indian spec model, the Yamaha R15, in its third generation of production, is powered by a 155 cc, liquid-cooled, single cylinder motor which equipped with Variable Valve Actuation technology generates 19.3 PS of peak power and 15 Nm of peak torque. The peak power is delivered at 10,000 rpm while maximum twist kicks in at 8,500 rpm. This motor rests in a delta box frame, giving the rider the best riding characteristics. This brilliant chassis is suspended by a telescopic fork in the front whereas a pre-load adjustable monoshock is offered for the rear. This motorcycle sends power to the rear wheel via a six-speed transmission which gets a slipper and assist clutch. Anchorage duties are done by a 282 mm disc in the front and a 220 mm disc does duties at the rear, which are governed by an ABS module.
