India Yamaha Motor extended its product line up for the Indian market and revealed its new offering, the Fascino, targeted to the fairer sex, at an event in Mumbai. Claimed to be designed with the concept of “Rich & Classy Modern Retro” the new Fascino is powered by an air-cooled, 4-stroke 113cc “BLUE CORE” engine with a continuous variable transmission (CVT). The new scooter features a lightweight body, a fresh new design and is claimed to have a fuel economy of 66 kmpl. But the biggest surprise is the pricing. At Rs 52,500 (ex-showroom Delhi), the Yamaha Fascino is one of the best looking scooters in that price bracket.
Here are the details about the new Yamaha Fascino in images:
The new stylish Yamaha Fascino is targeted towards the fairer sex and will compete against the likes of TVS Scooty Pep, and Hero Pleasure, though its a little more expensive than the other two. It looks much more premium though, and boasts some classy styling cues
While the front Apron may look like some other scooter, the headlight and the RVMs look decidedly classy
The switchgear quality is nothing to complain or brag about, about but the scooter does miss out on the brake lock which would make it difficult to park the Fascino on slopes
The new Fascino receives Yamaha’s Blue Core technology and is claimed to deliver fuel economy of 66 kmpl
The scooter features an impressive 21L of storage space which should be sufficient to accommodate a handbag or a full-face helmet
The instrument cluster (that very much reminds us of the Vespa) is simple yet stylish and displays basic information
The front apron looks good but a simpler look without the faux grille might have appeared better
The front and rear receives drum brakes and there is no option for a disc unit
The up-swept curve gels well with the curvy design of the motorcycle while a heatshield equipped exhaust looks clean, neat and stylish
The hook under the rider seat can be used to hang handbags
The scoot features a monoshock unit at the rear which Yamaha calls ‘Unit Swing’ suspension
Yamaha could have thought of an innovative key hole, something like the Honda Activa features which would have added to the security of the Fascino
The Fascino look particularly good in profile with its Vespa like authentic Italian lines making it stand out from the crowd
The new Fascino features new body styling with hints of chrome and a 3D logo on the sides which make it look premium. Moreover, Yamaha has managed to keep the weight of the Fascino at just 103kg making it the lightest scooter introduced in India by the the two-wheeler manufacturer. The new model will come in 5 colours including a matte chromatic colouring. Yamaha had associated with Femina Miss India 2014 pageant as well as was the title sponsor of Yamaha Fascino Miss Diva 2014 pageant to strengthen its brand equity especially among its style conscious audience.
