World Environment Day is observed on 5th June every year to promote awareness on the importance of preserving our biodiversity, the need to identify problems related to the environment and ways to take corrective action. Joining hands with the rest of the world, World Environment Day was observed in Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) on 5th June’13. The observance was in sync with the global theme for World Environment Day 2013, ‘Think.Eat.Save’. To mark the occasion, a week long celebration is planned in HMSI from 5th June’13 to 11th June’13. Environment Week opening ceremony was held on 5th June’13 and the day was marked by a tree plantation by Mr. Keita Muramatsu- President & CEO in presence of Senior Management. Environment Pledge was administered by Associates as part of the celebrations where-in associates took oath to be committed towards the protection of environment.
Display of banners & posters on environment theme at prominent locations were taken as a major activity. During this week, include several competitions on environment aspects to bring awareness about environment at work place. Environment slogan & poster competitions were organized for associates and their family members and various in-house training programs on environment awareness are planned to be conducted.
The selected entries would be awarded with prizes and appreciation certificates in recognition of their environmental awareness. The main objective of carrying out such activities was to promote awareness about the environment not only among HMSI associates but also among their family members and to encourage them to become responsible citizens.
