(Watch) Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder Review

After much wait, we’ve finally reviewed the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder is Toyota’s newest mid-size SUV which has been jointly developed with Maruti Suzuki. The Urban Cruiser Hyryder is set to launch in the next few days and bookings for it are already underway for a token amount of ₹25000.

The Urban Cruiser Hyryder comes with two petrol engine options. The first engine is a 1.5-liter mild-hybrid unit that belts out 101 hp and 136 nm of torque. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters. The other engine is a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated Atkinson Cycle engine that makes 92 hp and 122 nm of torque which comes paired with an electric motor that produces 79 hp and 141 nm of torque. The total output produced is 115 hp. It comes mated to an e-drive transmission. This system is paired with a 177.6 V lithium-ion battery which enables the Hyryder to run on an electric-only range of up to 25km. Toyota claims that this enables it to have the best in class fuel efficiency.

The Urban Cruiser Hyryder comes with slim LED DRLs which are connected by a thick chrome strip. The chrome strip gets a piano black accent background. Toyota calls this the crystal acrylic grille. Surrounded by a black element, LED projector headlights are placed below the LED DRLs. The side features 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. It gets a large ORVM with a camera underneath and the front fender gets a Hybrid badge too. The rear features split LED taillamps similar to the design of the LED DRLs up front. Other details include a large chrome grille on the boot, a shark fin antenna, and silver roof rails.

The interior comes equipped with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system that gets Android Auto and Apple Carplay. It also gets Arkymys sound tuning for an enhanced sound experience. The Urban Cruiser also gets Toyota’s-Connect’s 55+ connected car features including remote vehicle ignition. Other interior details include ventilated leather seats, a 7-inch MID, and a center sliding armrest. In terms of features, the Urban Cruiser comes loaded with push-button start/stop, automatic climate control, a heads-up display, a 360-degree parking camera, a panoramic sunroof, and an auto-dimming IRVM to name a few. The rear-seat passengers get A/C vents, USB chargers, and a center armrest.
