Take a good look at these pictures. That tasteful cabin doesn’t belong to a Rolls-Royce or a Maybach, but to a Volvo XC90 Lounge Console Concept. Surprised? We were too! Built to cater people with a high profile lifestyle and to meet their unmet needs, the Swedish manufacturer’s simple idea of doing away with the front seat altogether has transformed its image of being an ‘IKEA’ on wheels into something as exquisite as a Cappellini.
Volvo threw the front passenger seat away and replaced it with functions and amenities that would put a First Class cabin on the most lavish airline to shame. It includes a large work table which opens to reveal an illuminated vanity mirror and a storage tray for jewelry or personal accessories. The table also rotates 90 degrees and slides forward to display a large 17-inch media screen for a full-blown in-car theater experience for those who wish to enhance their entertainment quotient during their downtime. Below the leg rest area is additional storage for shoes and a lockable box.
Made for people who are constantly on the move, the Volvo XC90 Lounge Console Concept is for those on the lookout for some luxury time and would like to arrive refreshed and rejuvenated before their next engagement. A rare occurrence then, where the sensibilities of innovation have come together with silly opulence for a well defined luxury experience.
