Taking forward the original, XC90 based Lounge Console concept to the next level, Volvo has come up with their new interior concept and showcased it at the 2016 Beijing Motor Show. The new interior concept by the Swedish automobile manufacturer is based on the top-of-the-line variant of the S90 – the S90 Excellence sedan. The concept was showcased in a sculpture form.
The sculpture illustrates how the artistic Lounge Console could look in the new S90 Excellence sedan. Ideally, the concept is claimed to provide three comfortable alternatives – a mobile working station that combines a fold-out work table and large screen for the customer’s work-on-th-go. Secondly, an entertainment mode to catch up on the latest entertainment updates and lastly, relaxation mode where one can recline the seat, take a drink from the fridge and relax with the feet on the heated foot support at the front seat area. The front passenger seat has been removed to provide unrestricted forward visibility and make extra room. As expressed by Robin Page, Head of Interior Design at Volvo Car Group, “It has an immediate and extremely calming effect.”
At the rear, the features seats are claimed to impart better comfort and convenience. The centre control panel gets a heated/cooled cup holder, the sound system, massage function and the large multi-media screen. A refrigeration unit is housed inside the rear passenger armrest and comes complete with two hand-cut crystal glasses from Swedish glassmaker Orrefors.
